Shujaa

 

Let's all reflect back

To the days of agony, when on us the whites pondered

Days when they chained and starved us on our own land 

No freedom, no right to speak out 

Until we broke through

Until our heroes broke it through

Let's celebrate our heroes 

The ones from whose blood we enjoy Freedom

Celebrate Dedan, leading troops for a fight you only read about

Recognize Oginga and Kenyatta, through them the oppression stopped, the jail terms they served

Let's look back at those days 

Days when there was no freedom 

But still

But still we thrived 

Kenya is bigger than anyone 

So do good and live Kenya better than you found it

Be a shujaa for someone, or better still appreciate that shujaa of yours 

Make them recognize how precious they are

Cause it's the day for our shujaas 

The day we celebrate our heroes and heroines

Celebrate your hero today
