All The Things I Wish I Never Knew

All the Things I Wish I Never Knew

I wish I never knew that love can sound like footsteps leaving at 2 a.m. and still swear it’s coming back.

I wish I never knew how easy it is to memorize someone, their laughter,

their breathing, the way they say your name, only for your memory to become the place they abandon you.

I wish I never knew that apologies can be fluent and still mean nothing.

I wish I never knew that “I’m just tired” sometimes means I am tired of you.

I wish I never knew that people can hold your face with both hands and still be planning their escape.

I wish I never knew that silence can be louder than shouting, and distance can exist even when bodies share the same bed.

I wish I never knew that healing is not the opposite of pain, it’s learning how to carry it without bleeding on everyone you love.

I wish I never knew that childhood wounds grow teeth, and if untreated, they bite into adulthood.

I wish I never knew that strength is often just survival with better posture.

I wish I never knew that some people don’t want to be saved, they want to be understood while they keep drowning.

I wish I never knew that closure is a luxury reserved for people who get honest endings.

I wish I never knew that loving deeply doesn’t protect you, it exposes you.

I wish I never knew that the version of me who loved without fear had an expiration date.

Because now I know…

And knowing changes you.

And some lessons don’t make you wiser, they just make you quieter, more careful, and painfully aware that innocence is not lost in one moment…it is unlearned, slowly, by loving the wrong people the right way.
